The day starts with your pick-up from the hotel. After gathering the group, a 40 min transfer takes you to the kayak center in the village of Üçağız. Your experienced sea kayak guide will give you a short briefing about the tour, complete with safety tips and instructions on how to kayak. After choosing kayaks and equipment, it’s time to start paddling.
Your first stop will be the Tersane (Shipyard) Bay. Here you will have some time to rest or swim, but don’t miss out on seeing the ruins of the Byzantine period church located right on the beach. Keep in mind that this spot can get pretty crowded by tourists on daily boat trips during the height of summer.
The tour continues as you paddle past the half submerged ruins of Dolichiste on Kekova Island. The ancient city was partly submerged after an earthquake in the 2nd century AD, preserving many of the ancient structures including stairs leading down into the sea and harbor walls. The remains of houses can be seen on the higher up parts of the settlement, traces of life still visible in the pottery pieces on the shore.
Leaving the ruins behind, you will then paddle to Simena Castle and village where you will enjoy delicious food in one of the seaside restaurants. The modern day village of Kalekoy is built atop the ancient ruins of Sinema, creating an unforgettable atmosphere; take it all in from the top of the medieval castle.
Your adventure ends as you head back to Üçağız, passing the necropolis of ancient Teimeussa on the way. After another 40 minute transfer, you’ll arrive back in Kas around 3pm.
